Wine Tasting
We host wine tastings in-store where we offer the chance for mail list members to try some wines that we have been enjoying.
We also hold charged events for a more comprehensive wine tasting experience. Winemakers or their representative lead guided sessions giving members of the public the opportunity of hearing the story behind the label.

Places for these types of events are limited so in order to make sure you are invited please add your name to our mailing list.

We will e-mail you to let you know of any upcoming events. Please ensure that you RSVP as places are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Events are usually held on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday and are likely to last up to one hour.

Although you may not be over the legal drink-drive limit, we would strongly recommend that you don't drive afterwards.

Franz Haas Visits Highbury Vintners
Date: Tuesday 10th May 2011
Location: Highbury Vintners
We were delighted to have Franz Haas of Franz Haas Winery in store on Tuesday 10th May to talk us through a selection of his wines. The winery, based in Alto Adige, is a family owned property that has passed from father to son. Today, Franz Haas is the seventh generation to grow grapes on this beautiful estate, nestled at the foothills of the Alps. Franz goes to tremendous lengths to grow good grapes, and then strives to preserve the flavours of the fruit during winemaking. As a result, the wines that he produces are infused with great character, and show a rare purity and balance on the palate.
We tasted his:
Pinot Grigio
Pinot Nero
Gewurztraminer
Manna Cru - a blend of 50% Riesling, 20% Chardonnay, 20% Traminer Aromatico & 10% Sauvignon Blanc Moscato Rosa - sweet wine
Thanks to all who attended the evening, it was a great success. Lots more tastings coming up.

Date: Thursday 10th November 2011
Location: Highbury Vintners
On Thursday the 10th November, we are very excited to be hosting the fantastic wines of legendary Madeira producer D'Oliveira.
D’Oliveira is one of the greatest of the classic Madeira shippers, and one of the few to survive from the pre-phylloxera era. Founded in 1820, and today housed in cellars that date from 1619, this small jewel of a company is still owned by the same family, its vineyard holdings built up over time through a series of marriages with other wine-producing families.
Geoff Cole of Bovey Wines will be presenting the wines and will be featuring some amazing back vintages of Madiera. The tasting is £10 per person and we ask that you book in groups of no more than two. Please call the shop with your card details to reserve your place. The tasting will start at 7:30pm sharp and should take no more than an hour. This is certainly not one to be missed!
