Atamisque Malbec 2015

Such an impressive Malbec, this; hailing from the less-is-more school, at least in terms of overall personality. In other words, this is not a big new world 'fruit-bomb' but a wine of tremendous poise. On the nose there are alluring notes of violets, blackberries and dried fruits ' figs and raisins' and subtle hints of mocha and tobacco. The palate is powerful but not over-bearing, finishing very long with an unctuous array of black fruits and a lick of liquorice. Picked by hand, fermented in stainless steel, 100% aged in new French oak for 14 months, wonderful!

This is a superb wine. I first tried this tipple at Guacho (Argentinian Steak House)in London in December 2013. (Highbury Vintners sell this bottle for less than a third of the restaurant price) Perfect with red meat or chocolate. Bold with subtleties and a finish that lingers. This wine converted me to a red wine drinker.
